Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I book a service?
You can book our services by emailing us to request a quote or more details about the service you need. Alternatively, you can use our convenient online booking app to secure your appointment.

Is prepayment required to secure a booking?
Yes, we require prepayment to confirm your booking. Once the payment is received, your appointment will be scheduled.

What is your cancellation policy?
You will receive an additional booking confirmation 2 days prior to your booking, if the booking is cancelled after your confirmation from that date,  a 50% non-refundable fee will be charged. Repeated Cancellations ( 2 Cancellations in a row) will result in Client Ban.

Do you offer discounts or packages?
Yes, we offer special discounts and packages for customers who book in a friend for the same day and location. Get in touch to learn more about these offers.

Do you offer services for specific spaces?
Absolutely! We cover a variety of spaces, including bedrooms, kitchens, pantries, kids' rooms, craft rooms, and more. If you have a unique project, we’re happy to discuss custom packages.

What areas do you service?
We cover the city of Melbourne and most suburbs. Please note that a travel fee may apply for locations outside our core service radius. Feel free to contact us to check if we service your area.

What happens if I need more time than planned?
Prior to our booking we will ask you detailed questions about your requirements and offer you a package based on our discussion which is usually for a set service or set number of hours. If the job requires more time than initially booked, we’ll discuss additional charges with you during the session and adjust accordingly.

Do I need to provide supplies or cleaning products?
We bring light cleaning supplies such as wipes, towels, and some gentle cleaning sprays. If you have allergies or a preference for specific products, please let us know at the time of booking, and we can use your own cleaning supplies.

Do I need to do anything? 
Upon arriving to your premise, we will discuss the plan for the session and look to your input for items you wish to keep or throw away, alongside if              there are any key things of importance ( such as I've lost my passport - please keep an eye on it!) It's always a pleasure when our host offers us a cold      drink or light snack but not compulsory!

Do you accept donations?
For fashion and clothing items, we are happy to take wearable donations and drop them off at donation bins at our discretion. However, we do not take rubbish or dispose of items—these must be placed in your rubbish bin, and it’s the client’s responsibility to supply bin liners if needed.

How do you make recommendations prior to the appointment?
We always aim to make your experience as smooth as possible. After you send us photos of the area you need help with, we’ll make suggestions about what storage items or products you may need to purchase in advance. On the day of the appointment, we can then use them to organize your space.

Are there any spaces you don't work with?
We don’t clean or work in spaces with asbestos, mould, or similar hazards, alongside smoking/vaping present. 
For the safety of our team, dogs must be kept outside during our visit.

What is the general duration of a session?
The duration of each session depends on the size of the space and the level of work required. During your booking, we can provide an estimated time based on your needs.

Do you have WWC or Police Check?
Yes, everyone on the team working for The Sorting Company has a valid Working With Children check, alongside a valid Police Check ensuring the              upmost safety of your experience.

Disclaimer

1. Liability Disclaimer
The Sorting Company takes every precaution to handle your belongings with care. However, we are not liable for any damages, losses, or injuries that occur during or after our services. Clients are encouraged to notify us of any fragile or high-value items prior to the sorting process.
2. Decluttering and Donation Disclaimer
All decluttering and donation decisions are made solely by the client. The Sorting Company assists with recommendations but is not responsible for items the client chooses to discard or donate. Once items are removed from the premises, they cannot be retrieved.
3. Confidentiality Clause
The Sorting Company values your privacy and confidentiality. All personal information and belongings encountered during the sorting process will remain confidential and will not be shared, disclosed, or used without the client’s permission.
4. Outcome Disclaimer
The Sorting Company provides solutions to improve organization and efficiency. However, we cannot guarantee specific outcomes or long-term maintenance without the client's commitment to the suggested systems.
5. No Warranty Disclaimer
The Sorting Company makes no guarantees, representations, or warranties regarding the functionality or durability of any organizational products or systems recommended during our services.

Service Agreement

Service Agreement
This Service Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into on the date of booking by and between The Sorting Company ("Service Provider") and the undersigned client ("Client").
1. Services
The Sorting Company will provide sorting, decluttering, and organizing services as agreed upon during the consultation. Any additional services requested by the Client may incur additional fees.
2. Payment Terms
  • Full payment is due upon completion of services unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Late cancellations (less than 48 hours' notice) will incur a fee of [50% of service cost].
3. Client Responsibilities
  • The Client agrees to provide a safe and accessible working environment.
  • The Client will disclose fragile, valuable, or sentimental items prior to services.
  • The Client will not vape/smoke/do drugs while the organiser is present
  • The Client will put away all dogs/pets away while the organiser is present. 
  • The Client retains full decision-making authority for all decluttering and organizational decisions.
4. Limitation of Liability
The Sorting Company is not responsible for:
  • Pre-existing damage to items.
  • Items lost or damaged during the sorting process.
  • Injuries sustained on the premises during service provision.
5. Confidentiality
The Sorting Company agrees to maintain confidentiality of all personal information and items encountered during the services.
6. Termination
Either party may terminate this Agreement with written notice. The Client will be responsible for payment for all services rendered up to the date of termination.
7. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of Victoria.

Waiver of Liability

By signing this waiver, you ("Client") acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:
  1. Acknowledgment of Risk
    I understand that organizing and decluttering services involve handling personal belongings and may result in accidental damage or loss. I accept these risks and will not hold The Sorting Company liable.
  2. Responsibility for Decisions
    I understand that all decisions related to decluttering and donations are my responsibility, and I release The Sorting Company from any liability regarding the removal or donation of items.
  3. Confidentiality Agreement
    I acknowledge that The Sorting Company will maintain the confidentiality of my personal information and belongings encountered during the service.
  4. Property Access and Safety
    I confirm that the workspace provided is safe and accessible for the Service Provider and waive any claims related to injuries that occur on the premises during the provision of services.
  5. Indemnification
    I agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Sorting Company from any claims, damages, or losses arising from the services provided.
